Solar · Battery backup · Electrical · Cape Town

Every roof is a power station.

We design, install and look after solar and backup power for homes, farms and businesses across the Western Cape. Family-run, fussy about neat, and never signed off until you're happy.

Where sustainability meets reliability.

Western Cape, at every scale

A decade of turning Western Cape roofs into power stations.

Homes, farms, shopping centres and factories: designed, installed and looked after by one family-run team from Stikland.

How it works

Sun to socket.

One day of energy on a Modern Eco Energy system. Scroll through it, and pick the building that looks like yours.

  1. 06:24

    First light

Before the kettle's boiled, the panels are awake. The first low sun is already being turned into electricity.

  2. 09:00

    Sun in, DC out

We use high-grade panels made up of photovoltaic cells, which convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity all day long.

  3. 11:30

    The inverter translates

The inverter converts DC into the AC your building runs on, while the monitoring system tracks every kilowatt and makes sure everything is running smoothly.

  4. 12:30

    Into your DB

AC power goes from the inverter to your distribution board, and on to your lights, fridge, Wi-Fi and geyser. Solar first, the grid only when you need it.

  5. 15:00

    Bank the surplus

Whatever you don't use charges the battery. On a good day it's full by mid-afternoon.

  6. 18:30

    Then the grid goes down

Load shedding, a fault on the line, a winter storm. The system disconnects from the grid and switches to battery automatically.

  7. 21:00

    The lights stay on

The battery carries the load through the inverter, quietly. Usually the only way you'd know is that the street has gone dark.

  8. 06:24

    Tomorrow, the same again

Every system is designed around how you actually use power, and only signed off once you're happy with it.

"Their work is extremely neat."

Antonio Ferrero, a customer. We hear it a lot, because tidy cable runs, labelled breakers and square trunking are the standard, not an extra.

For business, farms & EPCs

Solar that works as hard as your business.

From one shop roof to projects over a megawatt, for owners, farmers and other EPC companies.

01

EPC installation partner

We work as the install team for other EPC companies, so they can focus on design and procurement. Special rates on projects over 1 MWp, or on a planned pipeline of installs per year.

02

Power purchase agreements

On the right site, a PPA lets you pay for the power the system makes rather than for the system. Ask us whether your roof qualifies.

04

Wheeling is live in Cape Town

The City's power-wheeling programme now allows bilateral trade across the grid. If you generate more than you use, ask us what it could mean for your site.

"Within 30 days I approved phase two. The system is outperforming all our expectations. No more outages, no more high Eskom bills and no more diesel and generator costs."
